Who We Are

Rachel Mynczywor - (My last name is pronounced men's war, for the record.) I am currently a Freshman in college, double-majoring in Secondary Education and English. I am also minoring in Communications, and specializing in English as a Second Language. I am a Whovian and a Potterhead, and read constantly. If I could invent a candy it would be called a Candymel Apple (because for some reason, no one has made a half candy-half caramel apple yet).

Rachel Therriault - Wow this little section here is intimidating. How am I supposed to describe who I am in a paragraph, and where exactly do I begin? I guess I'll start here: I am a child of God, one of his beautiful daughters to be exact :) I have lived in the same town and the same home all of my life, and have only travelled to a few places along the east coast, mainly in New England. But I am an adventure girl at heart. I love nature and being in God's creation. I have so many places I want to go and so many things I want to do. I also have quite the imagination. I love writing and thinking and learning and reading, especially anything to do with history!  I also love food...Ice cream is the staple of my diet.  Like all of these beautiful young women of God, I am a freshman at Gordon College. I will be studying Elementary Education with a Linguistics double major and a Special Education concentration. I look forward to having many amazing experiences both on and off campus. After graduation I hope to work at an inner city school as either a 3rd or 4th grade teacher, an English as a Second Language teacher, or a Special Education teacher.  I also hope to see the world and serve the Lord in any way he inspires me to :)

CC Harding - Well, I’m CC, short for Christina Cameron, and I’m from Queensbury, NY, but I was born and raised(until I was 10) in Pittsburgh, PA. I’m a die hard Pittsburgh sport fanatic, especially those Pens. I’m studying Kinesiology in hopes of being a physical therapist- Hopefully with little guys, I love kids! I grew up having an Episcopal priest for a father, so I’ve always had some faith. I was tested a lot throughout middle school and high school, dealing with a rough patch at home, leading to my parents divorce, and ultimately lost my faith for a while. I started praying a lot the summer before 9th grade, and while at a church convention, was touched beyond belief with the Holy Spirit, and I’ve loved sharing my testimony since then, especially with it growing everyday. I love to travel, Northern Ireland is my favorite place internationally and Sanibel Island, FL is my favorite place within the country. Also, I’ve read the Harry Potter series 3 times. So excited to spend the next 4 years at Gordon!

Rachel Welty - As on of the several "Rachels" in Gordon's incoming freshman class, I'm coming from Allison Park, Pennsylvania. A little north of the city of Pittsburgh, I attended a public high school in the suburbs. At Gordon, I will be studying Christian Ministries with a focus in global Christianity (missions), though I'm also interested in other areas of ministry. I know God has called me to missions, yet I'm not sure to where or in what capacity, but I'm okay with waiting to hear from Him on that. One of the things I am really looking forward to at Gordon is the community. Our incoming class is such a great bunch as far as I can tell, and I can't wait to be in fellowship with them in person in just a week or so! I know that in these next four years, I will be pushed and challenged, tested and tried, but I know that it will all be for good so that I may grow in Him. I am excited to grow in my faith with all my fellow classmates. I feel so blessed to be attending Gordon these next four years.

Michaela Barnes - So I am Michaela I was born in PA and then moved to CT when I was two when my parents got divorced. I have grown up in church my entire life and I am so excited to see what God has in store for me in these next four years at Gordon. While at Gordon I will be studying Elementary Education and Linguistics. If you can not tell by my major, my heart screams for children. No matter where I go my attention is automatically focused on the children and trying to make their lives awesome. I know I already said this but I am really truly excited for the plans God has in store the next four years. I am so excited to get to know all of you a little more each day. God Bless.

Allison Gurney - I live in a small town just south of Boston. My family has made a lot of sacrifices to help afford a college education and an opportunity for me to get away from the people and places I’ve been so far. I was raised by my grandmother and father who have instilled Christian values in me from a young age. But, it wasn’t until my junior year that I reached my lowest low at the time and was finally in a place where I could make the decision to fully commit my life to God. I was saved that October. Being the only Christian in my circle of friends was hard, especially due to the temptations to make bad decisions. Most just didn’t understand my decision to stop. I went to a public vocational high school where I studied graphic design. In an attempt to create a place where I could be open with my faith, I pulled strings to start a faith-based club. Other than myself, we had a total of two members. I hope to find a positive group of people at Gordon that will help me become grounded in my faith. I plan on majoring in art or communications. I love: Jesus, food, chill people, love, my brothers, adventuring, writing, art, music, gaming, and other stuff.
